From the time of its inception, the Kerala Surgical Journal has been steadily growing from strength to strength. Our Journal has set the bar high as the platform for representing and publishing data from the academic and clinical research front in our State. Kudos to Dr. Fazil Marickar and the editorial team for keeping the standards of this publication excellent through this journey.

As the global pandemic rages on the 2nd year of its rampage, taking its toll on the clinical, academic and personal facets of our lives, I do believe that we as professionals and academicians have risen up to this challenge and served our patients and our students through innovation and improvisation. The past couple of years have been history in the making, and there has been a paradigm shift in both treatment and teaching techniques to accommodate the current crisis. We have gotten used to donning personal protection equipment (PPE) and to conducting conferences and classes online, so our service will continue uninterrupted. I am sure we shall continue re-educating and adapting ourselves to sail the ever-changing tides of Modern Medical Science.

We have had the opportunity to organize and participate in multiple excellent programs for clinical and academic education, despite this on-going crisis. Hats off to Dr Santhosh John Abraham for continuing his untiring and excellent guidance and encouragement as always.

I am grateful to the entire community of ASI members for staying strong and supportive to each other while braving these difficult times. Together, we shall overcome, and we shall vanquish this foe too. Let us, for a moment, remember our brethren who fought this battle with us, and have fallen in the fray.

Once again, I congratulate the editorial board on maintaining our excellent standards via this journal.

With Hope and Gratitude.
